Trend Tuesday: Mixin' it up

WHAAAAT!?!?!
That's right fools. Langford is back up and bloggin'! I am proud to say I have completed all my finals with only minor lasting damages! I seriously cannot explain to you how happy I am to not have to take another test for TWO YEARS! HOLLA!

Anyway, lets get back to business as usual. ;)

Today is Trend Tuesday and I want to show you my favorite trend of all time.

The trend I base every fashion decision I have ever made off of...

PATTERN MIXING!!

Rule number one: Mix all the patterns.

If there is one rule about mixing patterns its that there really aren't any rules! It seems you can mix anything with anything and it can work! I mean, use some discretion of course, but I say mix all the patterns! I'm actually a fan of pairing two patterns that seem unexpected, yet somehow work! like, check out these mixes :)

Rule number two: monochromatic yo.

If you are not quite daring enough for that, try to keep it a little simpler by making all of your patterns one color. It still give you an interesting look without being too "in your face"

Rule number three: neutrals are a pattern mixer's best friend.

If you are ever unsure which pattern to mix, try a neutral one. Black and white, tan, gray, navy. A pattern in any of these colors will go with anything. I personally am a huge fan of mixing cheetah print (a classic neutral pattern) with EVERYTHING!

Rule number four: choose a color scheme.

If you stick with a color scheme, it makes it easier for your pattern mixing to not overwhelm your friends. plus, people will probably like you more if there aren't concerned that you are going crazy because of your insane mix of patterns.

Rule number five: stripes mix with everything.

When in doubt, stripe it out. Stripes are the little black dress of patterns. They and classic necessities that will go with anything!! you can dress them up, or down. But seriously, if you want to mix things up, try pairing a striped patterns with any other pattern you can find!

Happy mixing :)

Mish Monday: D&C 122:7

In the past week or so, I feel I have really been hit hard by the adversary. I have been feeling so unprepared and inadequate for my mission. I hate it. I really feel like I can feel Satan trying to make me feel like I am not good enough and never will be. Its been a hard thing to work through.

I have been praying a lot recently that I would find peace and feel like I was ready to serve. This Sunday seemed to be an answer to prayers for me. In Relief Society we had a lesson on overcoming trials. This scripture in D&C really stuck out to me. I know its super cliche and you probably have it memorized or something, but hear me out...

"And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens father blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good."
-D&C 122:7

I was so impressed by this. I know that even though it is hard for me to feel down, this trial (small though it may be) is for my good. It will help me, if I am willing to turn it over to my Father in heaven, to become a stronger missionary. I truly am grateful for my Heavenly Father. He knows just how to talk to me and strengthen me. I know all these difficult times are giving me the experience necessary to be an amazing missionary. I know its for my good. I know that through faith and prayer I can turn these insecurities into strengths. That I can do all things through Christ. I am grateful for my opportunity to serve and I know I can be my best because Christ is there to help me. I am not forgotten. It is so inspiring and comforting to know that I have a Heavenly Father who truly cares for me and is helping me through my trials. I am so blessed to be a member of this church and to be able to bring these blessings to the people of Utica, New York.

temples x 4

So... sorry about fab five friday. It just slipped right through my fingers again! Something about blogging on Friday just has not been working for me apparently! So instead of doing that, I want to tell you about my fun temple trip today!

So one of my cute friends here at the BYU made it a goal to visit all the temples in Utah! Today we visited four of the northern temples.

5:30 am:
stumble out of bed. throw on a skirt and top that hopefully match. get in car.

7:30 am:
arrive at Logan temple. baptisms. ask random stranger to take picture. be blown away by intense winds.

9:30 am:
eat 3 blueberry granola bars. arrive at the Brigham City temple. baptisms. awkward photo asking. bounce.

10:30 am:
arrive in Ogden. find temple construction site. take an awkward picture by it while construction workers give you death looks.

11:00 am:
Eat a sweet burger and fries via five guys. stroll to a charming cupcake shop titled "ye old cupcakes". chat with cupcake guy. eat delicious cupcake.

12:30 pm:
arrive at Bountiful temple. avoid 2 wedding parties. baptisms. awkwardly ask someone to take a picture while they are being pelted with rain. sprint to car.

1:30 pm:
drive back to P-town. shower. take nap. reminisce on the fantastic times you had at the house of the Lord.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Lizzie Mcguire, You are an Outfit Repeater!

I'm not even going to lie to you... I've been watching a lot of Lizzie McGuire. No joke. I'm real sorry about it, but I was feeling nostalgic and needed to revisit the days of Lizzie, Gordo, and Miranda.

You can relive your glory days too by clicking on this link. You won't regret it.

Anyway, as I was watching Lizzie McGuire I started thinking about how much I used to love all the outfits and hairstyles on the show. I'm not gonna lie, I OFTEN tried to recreate the super cute looks I saw on the show. Now looking back the idea makes me cringe. Please say we never though those hairstyles were cute. Are we for real with the crop tops and patterned flaired jeans?

But then... I had a crazy idea! Honestly. This is probably crazy. But I thought... what if I tried to recreate a look from the closet of Lizzie McGuire and make it cute for today? Loosely based of course. Nonetheless, I thought it was a good idea so we are going to proceed!

This is the sweet look I snagged from the McGuire team (Sorry for the poor quality... thats what happens when you take a screen shot of the Lizzie McGuire episode you're watching)

This is my recreation of the look!

Top: Forever 21 (Similar Here)  Pants: American Eagle (Similar Here)  Shoes: Charlotte Russe  Bag: Forever 21  Preach My Gospel : uuuhhhh.... like go on a mission and they give them to you like candy on Halloween!

Remember when I said loosely based?

haha thanks for hangin' in there for this crazy post. And remember to NEVER be an outfit repeater!

Trend Tuesday: The Peplum

Hey yo!

Another Tuesday is upon us, which means its time for us to talk about one of my favorite current trends. Today I want to talk to y'all about the peplum. I am so into this look right now! The peplum is great for so many reasons.

1. It draws attention to, and narrows the waist.

2.  If you are not exactly loving your belly, this top flairs out to create a super flattering silhouette.

3. Its versatile, trendy, and chic!

Here are some of my favorite peplums!

Tops:

         Forever 21

Bottoms

Dresses

Well my peeps, thats the trend! Go out and buy yourself a sweet peplum!

Now in order to finish out your day, I need you to watch this music video. No one knows why, but this song from the late 90's has been stuck in my head as of late. I'm having flashbacks to radio disney and dance parties in my room. But the thing is, its a super great song... and I feel like we should use their outfits as reference of how to never ever dress again. I also really need you to appreciate the nose wiggle, random Irish jig, and cheesy backdrop. mmmm kay. thanks. now watch the vid yo!

Mish Monday: The Wave

Man.
It's Monday again. Mondays are always the hardest day for me to get through without wanting to collapse into a comma. But heres the thing, does anyone ever wake up on a Monday morning and be like "YES! I'm so glad my weekend is over! I'm super stoked to walk around in the rain and sit through boring classes! Its gonna be AWESOME!" no. No one in the history of ever has uttered that sentence. It just hasn't happened.

But, have you ever noticed that the Monday after General Conference is exceptionally hard? I mean, I love conference. Best weekends of the year. But the Monday following it is always impossible to get through. Stay strong my friends. We can do it.

In order to help you stay strong through out this dreary Monday I present, Mish Monday: The Wave.

Remember how all through conference everyone was talking about missionaries and I was loving it so much? I was seriously so inspired by all the messages about the youth going out to serve!  I am so proud to be one of the 20,000 waiting to enter the MTC.

I am so amazed by how quickly this work is going forth! I am so proud of all my friends who have decided to serve the Lord! Check out these super cute and inspiring printables from this General Conference!

You can find more here! I definitely plan on printing a bunch of these out for the mission! They are so inspiring and perfect reminders of the amazing things we learned this weekend! I truly am grateful to be a member of this church! My testimony has been strengthened so much, especially over this past year! I am so excited to go forth and serve!

Happy Monday!

Fab Five Friday: Saturday?

You. guys.
I cannot believe I missed Fab Five Friday! Like, who even am I? So sorry! It was a crazy day yesterday, but luckily I am willing to give you a Fab Five Saturday! So yay!

So this past week has been pretty great. With the semester reaching its end and the weather warming up this week has just been fantastic. Let me tell you about some of the fun things!

One:

So like my family abandoned me on Easter and decided to go to St. George. I was unfortunately not invited because of school! Bogus am I right? Anyway, I did get to spend Easter with my cute cousins who are probably my favorite people alive. It ended up being supes fun!

Two:

As I already informed you, this past week I was involved in a prank war. I love pranks. It was so fun, but unfortunately the RA's shut us down! I guess its for the best. The pranks were getting pretty intense!

Three:

So, I'm in love with Jef Holm. If you don't know who Jef Holm is please go cry for yourself. Anyway, on Sunday I received a SnapChat from Jef Holm. I GOT A FREAKING SNAPCHAT FROM JEF HOLM!!!! I cried a little when I saw it. That is all.

Four:

Last Saturday I decided to break the mold of every single person in Utah County. Instead of going to the Festival of Colors with all the hooligans, I went to the Draper Temple with my peeps. It was good times. And seriously, the Draper Temple is gorgeous. Go visit it!

Five:

I finally had a chance to hit up the Waffle Luv truck that everyone is obsessed with! Let me tell you, they are not lying! Those waffles were off the chain! Dude, if you see that truck, stop everything you are doing and eat a waffle. You will not regret it.

Well... Thats all for today! Hope you all have a wonderful conference weekend!
