The Missionary Diaries Begin.

haha you thought I was gone forever. psych. I had one more thing to post. Its super cool I promise.

So like, I leave tomorrow. I'm being set apart as a missionary TONIGHT! what? I am insanely overwhelmed. but at the same time, ready. I have felt so much peace and love these last couple days. I am so ready to get out there and serve my God!

Before I leave, I wanted to share a quote one of my friends posted on the big FB. I feel like it totally encompasses what I want to say. So like, here it is.

”I am called of God. My authority is above that of the kings of the earth. By revelation I have been selected as a personal representative of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is my Master and He has chosen me to represent Him. To stand in His place, to say and do what He Himself would say and do if He personally were ministering to the very people to whom He has sent me. My voice is His voice, and my acts are His acts; my words are His words and my doctrine is His doctrine. My commission is to do what He wants done. To say what He wants said. To be a living modern witness in word and deed of the divinity of His great and marvelous latter-day work.”
~ Bruce R. McConkie.

On the other hand, I am also feeling like this:

and (at the risk of being a total cliche white girl) this:

but very most importantly, like this:

So guys, Its been real. I'm gonna miss this blog (how many times can I say goodbye) I hope you miss me too! But remember, its turning into my mission blog!

Love ya'll

Thoughts For Thursday: With a Dash of Wardrobe

Top: Forever 21  Belt: Target    Jeans: American Eagle  Shoes: old (similar here

So hey.

Ya'll were whining that I didn't do Wardrobe Wednesday yesterday... so I figured I would throw in some wardrobe with today's thoughts. It's kinda fun I guess.

Today I wanted to do a post that one of my friends told me about. It's based off of this quote by our dear Audrey...

So basically, I wanted to tell you what I believe.

I believe in second and third chances.
I believe that a girl can never have too many shoes, or scarves.
I believe in laughing more often than crying.
I believe in never stepping down and speaking what's on my mind.
I believe in loving everyone. Even those who are hard to love.
I believe in Christ.
I believe in never making excuses to not have fabulous hair.
I believe in family.
I believe in friends.
I believe in always looking on the bright side, even when its hard to find.
I believe in being a little weird.
I believe in never doing things that make you unhappy.
I believe in faith, hope, and charity.
I believe.

Trend Tuesday: Cheetah Girl

Ah! Hey there!

So like, this may be the last Trend Tuesday for like... 18 months. so you better enjoy it.

I felt like I should probably focus today on my absolute favorite trend of late. Which is...

..... drumroll..... alright, ok..... alright ok......................

CHEETAH PRINT!

Holla!

ok. So like I really really love cheetah print. lets check out my favorite ways to incorporate this super chill print into your life.

Here are the cheetah print pieces that are absolutely essential to your well-being.

1. Loafers. I got mine at the gap and I basically wear them everyday. Love those shoes to pieces. Get your own here

2. Belt. So versatile. this belt seriously has potential to be worn with everything. buy it here.

3. Scarf. yes. just yes. get it here yo!

well those are the essentials. but seriously, any cheetah accessory I will always say yes to.

Now watch this video... cuz... we're cheetah girls, cheetah sistas! Although, I will have to advise against the cheetah velour track suits.

Mish Monday: The Farewell.

Well guys, the farewell is over.

can you believe this? I leave in fracking nine days! WHAT?!?!

Anyway, it was really quite surreal. It was a double farewell so there were more people there than I could ever has anticipated... talk about intimidating! But I feel like it went really well. I was so glad I could have the spirit with me and that my talk could really touch the hearts of the people who came. It was amazing.

if you missed my farewell, you can read my talk here! how fun is that?

Anyway, of course we had an after party. which was a blast. check out the pics yo.

My mom and I, pre-terrifying talk.

Just look at this cake. hello awesome.

sisers, aunt, cousins, mom.

we so cute.

My Aunt Wendy and I.

The BFF's aka Carly Davis and Katy Bready.

oh wait, now we actually look cute... whaaaaat!

me and my long lost BFF Jess.

Abrea and Chelsea. I would like to point out that they are both wearing heels and I am barefoot. #kthanksbye

of course a super awkward photo featuring me and jess.

All my best girls who came out to support me! You ladies are the best!

Well, I suppose that is all. It was a great day, although I must say I am so happy it is over! now just nine days until the MTC!

Thoughts for Thursday: Gatsby? ... What Gatsby?

YOU GUYS.

I am for real fan-girling out of my mind right now. I'm not even going to lie to ya'll, I've see The Great Gatsby twice already. also, I may or may not have ordered a Gatsby sweatshirt... but that is irrelevant.

here's what is relevant, I LOVE THE GREAT GATSBY.

like, it may soon take the place of my favorite movie. seriously.

now, I hear there are some nay-sayers who either didn't want to see the movie, heard it got bad reviews and turned their noses up to it, or just didn't really like it.

let me tell you why they are wrong, and you must see it.

1. LEO. duh.

like, are we kidding? Leo is proof that things only get better with age. I think I died a little at his performance. he was born to play Gatsby.

2. The Story

Do not be turned off because you hated your eleventh grade english teacher who forced you to read the book. he probably almost ruined it for you. but, I need you to overlook this painful memory and take a chance on this beautiful, tragic love story. It is so symbolic and lovely and moving. It brought me to tears at least once (ok maybe more than that). This is not a story for the faint of heart. This movie makes you think. but, don't the best movies?

3. The Art Direction.

I have never loved a movie more simply because of the artfulness of it. The shots. The scenery. The costumes. THE MUSIC. The way they had words come across the screen. It was all so artful, yet tasteful. There were so many ways they could have crossed the line, yet they executed it perfectly. As my dear friend Katy would say, "This movie is an Art Deco dream."

If this all is not reason enough, then I do not know what to say to you. Go see the movie. Then come back, and tell me what you thought! What you loved, what you wish they would have changed, how you feel it compares to the book... all of it.

also, someone get me an invite to one of Gatsby's parties.

that is all.

Mish Monday: It's Time... Almost.

monday.

can you believe we are down to only two more mondays after this one.

only two more mish monday's, then my entire life will become a mish monday.

today I realized I only have 16 days left until I leave. SIXTEEN. are you freaking out? I'm freaking out. I remember when I had 100 days. oh how the days have flown. now I leave in s.i.x.t.e.e.n. days. I can't get over this.

Utica New York, comin' at me fast.

here's the thing though, do you want to know what I'm feeling? well, I'll tell ya what I'm feeling.

1. nervousness. obviously. It's a huge change! but fret not, for I am only about 20% nervous.

2. excitement. when I think about all the people I will meet, how my life will change, and everything I'm going to learn, I get so freaking excited. like this:

3. anticipation. is that even a feeling? I feel like I can't wait for my impending mission any longer. I can't try to imagine what its going to be like. I can't try to prepare myself for what will happen. I can't think about it any longer. I am just ready to get this mish rolling. I can no longer handle the anticipation.

4. peace. especially within the past week or so, I felt an immense sense of peace surround my mission. I don't feel anxiety about my incompetence, I only feel faith. It's an incredible blessing really.

5. trust. I have felt an increased sense of trust in my Heavenly Father and what he can do for me. I know that through Him, I can do all things. ALL THINGS. do you realize what that means? it means, that if I put my full trust, faith, and hope in Him, He will strengthen me. He will help me become the missionary I want to be. it's an incredible overwhelming blessing. I whole-heartedly trust that Heavenly Father will guide me throughout my mission. and that, more than anything, is what has helped me make it though these last few weeks.

I feel ready to serve, and that is one of the greatest blessings I could ask for.

Thoughts for Thursday: Top 6 YouTube Vids You Have to Have Seen To Be My Friend.

Hola.

As the title of the post expresses, today I wanted to show you the top six youtube videos you have to have seen to be my friend. like seriously. If you haven't seen these videos, our friendship will not last. If you care about me at all you will watch each of these videos and laugh until a baby tear drop rolls down your face. Watch because you care.

6. Nature Walk

Overall, I don't LOVE this video, yet I quote it ALL THE TIME. I really can't explain why. My favorite lines are "G Dang it" and "you can tell its an aspen by the way that it is".  someone please help me stop using these phrases in casual conversation. people do not understand.

5. East/West College Bowl

This one was recently introduced to me, but I love it like a hostess cake. How can you not swoon over those names? And that one at the very end? Crazy!

4. Hip Hop Kids "Word! We are Straight Up Trapped in this Bear Cave Yo"

it is with great sadness that I have to only post a link to this, rather than just show the video. stupid SNL for not putting your videos on youtube. boo you. Anyway, click on the link. watch that sucker. mostly appreciate the line "What are the odds?" "That a bear would be in a bear cave? Like 100 percent!"

3. Zombie Kid Loves Basketball

Lewis Park?
Get this kid a medal, because he's won my heart.

2. Canadian Border Patrol

all right byron... surprisingly, its just me.... at that point I'm running mostly on adrenaline...

how can you not love these one liners? I could quote this for days.

1. Boys Will Be Girls.

This has to be my number one favorite youtube vid OF ALL TIME. Like for real. I quote it on a daily basis. If you haven't seen this, we literally cannot be friends. no joke. like, have you been living under a stupid rock or something?

Well, thats the list. watch them so our friendship can be reinstated. If you have any videos that should have made the list, comment below. I'll decide if I deem them worthy :)

Fab Five Friday: La Republica Dominicana

Hey folks.

So I just returned from a wonderful vacation to the Dominican Republic! I know... It's a weird place to go, but it was the greatest.

lets fill you in fab five friday style.

uno

the beaches.

They were freaking stunning. every beach we visited was like heaven on earth! I seriously cannot get enough of laying on the beach. I need to move somewhere where the ocean is more accessible...

dos

the driving.

oh my gosh. the way dominicans drive may be one of my favorite things about their country. They are all freaking nuts. basically they have come to three conclusions that we in the US have yet to reach.

1. you may pass... always. like, there is literally never a time when you can't pass. a two lane rode is big enough for three cars and a couple of scooters right?

2. there is no limit to the amount of people you can cram on a scooter. I have seen families of six on a teeny scooter. explain that to me. also, helmets.... very optional. and they usually seem to end up just carrying them, rather than wear them on their cabeza's.

3. drunk driving is allowed.

don't ask.

tres

monkey jungle.

we went to this sweet place where you can have little squirrel monkeys crawl all over you! let me tell you, it was crazy. I was moderately terrified, but then i realized they had soft little people hands. so I was chill with it. I mean seriously, look at these monkeys!

quatro

waterfall excursion.

unfortunately because they are in a bit of a drought, there weren't as many waterfalls as was promised, but it was still pretty fun! lots of jumping, sliding, and swimming! also bummer... no pics of this! obviously couldn't bring a camera because it would get wet! so like... just look at this pic of my dad and I at la playa.

cinco

survivor.

so like, my dad is super into survivor right now. don't ask me why. so while in the dominican we watched an entire season of the show! it was actually kind of a fun, relaxing way to spend the evening... I mean, I can't complain :)

well, its good to be back! thanks for sticking with me while I've been a slacker!
